1992 f350 crewcab roof rack

hey guys im looking to put a roof rack on my 1992 f350 crewcab. most of the ones iv found mount to crossbars, i dont have any crossbars. my question is should i get a set of crossbars and try and bolt those on or should i just try and bolt on a roof rack ?

I have used Yakima racks for over twenty five years. Your '92 has rain gutters so it's a simple and easy way to attach them. Yakima offers roof mounts you can install if you use them alot. I don't buy the yakima cross bars, I just go to Home Depot etc and buy the bar and cut it to the length I want at a considerable cost savings. If you want something a bit cheaper but still high quality NRS sells a set of roof rack brackets and you can make your our bars or wood crossmembers: Quick-N-Easy Car Top Racks - Set at nrs.com I have used both with great results for years.

I just picked up this roof rack. I'm waiting on the mounts to come in and I'll start test fitting things. It looks to be an almost perfect size for the CC. I'll start a tread about it when things start moving.

Yep it's stock truck with 33x12.5 R17s If you have a lift I would go with something bigger like a 35 at less.
