Last night the Shift Selector Tube broke on my 99 F250 SD.
I could not get the trans lever out of park. I went under the truck
and disconnected the shift cable from the manual selector. With the help of a friend holding the brakes and park brake, I went under the truck and moving the manual selector, found reverse then backed the truck out. I then found drive and brought the truck home. Today, I bought and replaced the broken shift selector tube. Here's the problem....I'm having difficulty finding Park and Neutral. I found neutral, started the truck, found reverse, and drive but when I put the lever back to park and shut the engine off, it won't restart. I need to find neutral again. I didn't move the range sensor, just the manual lever.
How do I make things right again and to find and have park, reverse, neutral and drive.
Thanks in advance.
