In the midst of my transmission teardown, I just took the valve bodies apart, and the springs in the accumulator body on all three accumulator pistons were messed up- One of the smallest springs had a definite curve to it- the other two were broken to bits- one of them looked almost like chain mail, and it was intertwined with the outer spring! Happily, I am already set up with a TransGo "Tugger" kit, so already planned to replace the springs...
Working the E4OD isn't so bad is it? The worst part is get it in/out of the truck.
Over the years I have rebuilt probably a couple dozen manual transmissions- Usually ****** Jeep, old Dodge, Triumph(car), etc... This is my first automatic transmission teardown: Not so bad. Have to make a couple tools, but, on the whole, not a bad experience!
Even getting it out was reasonable- I did so with the back wheels on the ground, and the front wheels up on ramps! There is just enough room to slide the trans out just behind the front wheels... And thinking on it, had I reversed the ramps, and backed up them, having the incline on the front would have allowed me a couple spare inches closer to them!
