Backing up issues

Backing up issues
I have a 2000 Lincoln navigator that I just purchased 4 days ago. Everything was fine when I test drove it. Now when I put it in reverse. It will back up momentarily, and then all of a sudden stop. it acts like it's locking up. is this a brake issue, RSS, or transfer case? if I go forward first, I do not have the issue backing up.

So if you go forward first you can then back up? If that's the case when will it next lockup in reverse...what conditions?
