My project has a chevy front clip and the weld came out of a bubble gume machine , Yesterday i cut and ground out a lot of old weld and made plates to connect the frames , Now I am not a great welder , but I thought I would give it a try . My stepson had given me some Certanium 701 welding rod, he told me I should try it . Ok I am totally impressed , this stuff works . Vertical, horizontal , upside down , no problem . It's like I just learned how to weld . It goes through rust , grease , paint and leaves a nice bead . Only problem is price , $10 a pound , anyone know where I can get a deal ? Started reading about their other rods seems like a lot of good stuff . Anyone using this rod ?
I tried a 6011 rod on the same part , there was no comparison . What I read is they don't make their rods to AWS standards , small company's making rod come up with their own formulas . I found some interesting information on a number of different rods they make .If you Google it there are a lot of positive feed back .
I do not have the answers you want , if you google it there are sites that give you that information . there are a lot of responses telling what it can be used for , I am not a welder and would like someone with experience to tell what they know about this rod .
