Howdy all
Looking to retire in a couple years I`m in low 50s and was looking at Coos Bay but lately been hearing about meth heads and really not a clean area. No offense is meant,,
I`d like to buy a ranch of about 20-30 acres and want a nice area. Can ya help me out on some areas?
Coos Bay / Bandon area is definitely a little on the wet side and coastal.
I would not say it is any "dirtier" or more "meth heads" than anyplace else in "southern" Oregon. Having spent a lot of years in Law Enforcement just east of there, I would say it has no more problems than any of its neighbors.
The pluses are The Dunes National Recreation Area, Sunset Bay State Park, Charleston / Charleston Harbor, Ten Mile Lakes and other attractions near by. Bandon, just South of Coos Bay has attractions and is very popular for Cranberry's.
Used to launch our boat and go salmon fishing out of Charleston all the time and camped right at the harbor or at Sunset Bay a couple of miles away if there were any camp spot available.
It would be best to narrow it down a little like Andy was saying.
But better hurry, we are hoping that Trump is going to build a wall for us South of Ashland and North of Yreka.
I've lived all over Oregon and I can help, but I need more info other than the acreage for what you all are wanting......(Coast/Valley/HighDesert, what size community, proximity to larger population, temps/weather, general location, cost for land?, etc.) Thanks
