C4 trans shift kit install ?

I got a trans go shift kit for my 74 c4 trans. Instructions basically details which springs to swap, also a hole that needs to be enlarged on the separator plate with the supplied drill bit. It states nothing about having to remove the v/body from the case but I'm guessing you'll have to because the pic shows it off. My question is will i damage the gaskets when removing the vb? My local Napa store does not sell just those gaskets separately so if anyone knows a supplier that sells these gasket separately please lmk. Also any other advice in doing this kit is appreciated. Thanks

If you separate the valve body halves, you will likely need to replace the gasket (plus hours of scraping off old crusty gasket material). Ebay has them for $12 and under. Might look and see if you have a local transmission shop/store that sells parts. Pretty common in bigger cities.

you want it out if you drill because you dont want any metal shavings in that case.
