So I decided to replace the headlights after getting some cheap China knock-offs that yellowed after a couple months. I found I liked the spyder one piece headlight and side light the best. First off I'd like to say when I received these light they are boxed and shipped great, quality of boxing was awesome. I pulled the lights out and the feel and quality of the light is great, they don't feel cheap at all. So after a couple weeks of procrastination of installing them I had enough ambition to do so. I pulled the grill, bezels, header panel, and headlights completely off the truck. First thing I noticed is the difficulty the new lights pose.
So once the old was off and the new going on I notice the lack of instructions on the kit. The bezels are designed to have the side light bolted to it, but because it's now one piece it's been eliminated and I've realized to install the bezel you have to cut off the mounting area for the side light. Easy enough for the mini HB pneumatic sawzall, so off the mount goes. So I get the headlights mounted to the header panel and install the bezels. I go to bolt the header back up and realize with the bezel installed I cant bolt down the sides of the header.... off the bezels go only to find out I can't remove them with the header bolted at all. Off the header goes, now to cut the bezels again. You literally have to cut the bezels almost to the edge of the chrome, and once I bolted the header up you have to twist and turn and fudge with the bezel/turn signal to get them to sit in the panel. Once on I was relieved, but was short lived cause I had to bolt up the parking light to the header only by feeling and reaching from the engine bay. Finally get them bolted up and the results are great, unfortunately I will have to pull them back off because there is no way to install the lights on the sides while bolted up.... but here is the finished product.
Good job. I have had mine for over a year and they are just as clear as the day I installed them. Had the same issues as you. One thing I did that you may want to consider, go to the local jy and pick up the pigtails for the lights with as much wire as you can. Cut off yours and wire up the new ones with the excess wire. This will allow you to have the extra wire to remove or reinstall your lights much easier. I no longer dread having to change bulbs when necessary.
Thanks for the input and I'm happy to hear they haven't yellowed on you, I was worried after my last one if I just wanted to find stock lights again. Great suggestions on redoing the wiring longer, I may just wait to pull them back off until I get everything to redo them.
Im starting to second guess my turn signals, maybe I should have got the stock orange turn signals... I really like the contrast that it gives the headlight. My have long been gone since my first replacement was back in 2007 with the LMC euro style, when I moved to Texas in 2010 they fell apart right away. So after they started flaking I bought the black background china lights in 2013, they didn't last but a few months. Originally I drove it for work but when I had to start traveling further, I stopped driving my F150 ( I work in the Oil & Gas fields). It was the best and worst thing I ever did, Got a great deal on my 12' F250 but my F150 sat and didn't get driven. Then when oil fell, times got hard so I cancelled the insurance and reg. on my 150. and its been sitting since 2013. Im just now starting to fix all the little things, I really lucked out that the rats and mice didnt destroy my truck. Just a few small things and it'll be road worthy again.
I first changed my originals to Depo which were crap. Then bought these and love them. I kept the amber for the contrast. I like the clear and they look great on some trucks ( depending on the color in my opinion) just not right on my truck. And thanks, had it 21 years and plan to keep it.
Are your lights OEM? Where'd you get them? They look great.

Why did you have to show us this? Now you made me want to buy a set for my truck
Do you have any pics of them lit up?

I have Depo's on my 97 and the light output is terrible. (bright in some spots dim in others)
These are stock, plans are to replace with LED bulbs all the way around. Sorry the led markers aren't hooked up yet and I've got some lights burned out.
Dirtworx and f1504x4driver, awesome trucks! Making me want to look into getting a set of headlights, mine are overdue for a replacement. I like the stock look f1504x4driver's replacements give the truck.
