Third Brake Light

I took the third brake light off my truck, primarily because I'm opening my door and leaving it open working on my door latch, etc. I discovered the middle light area had melted a little of the plastic on the interior of the light assembly. After looking at it closer, it appears a screw from inside the cab was over an inch too long and "likely" shorted it out. I ordered a new (aftermarket) light and have that installed.

I thought I saw where someone on this site was trying to find a OEM third brake light. I think this one is probably salvageable. If anyone wants it, it is yours for the cost of shipping. I will do my best to ship within a week.

So you now have a hole in your cab? Why not just pull the bulbs?

No sir. As mentioned, I purchased a new aftermarket light and have that installed.

If the seal on it is good and it's not leaking water, you could try putting it on Craigslist. I had some trouble finding a good used lens when I chased a water leak problem so I'm sure other may need it. Just out of curiosity, did you out in an led third brake light?

I may try Craigslist and see what happens. I was really just wanting to give it away to someone that needs one. The seal appears to be ok. Not sure what your question is on the LED light I replace it with. Are you asking what it cost? If yes, I paid $45.89 at Amazon. I think it looks good. Works good too.

I was going to ask if you had torque converter lock up issues if you had a 4 speed automatic transmission. I thought about getting an led when my lens went bad but decided against it.

The transmission seems to working fine, so far. I haven't put many miles on it since I bought it though.

alright. Hypothetically the bias voltage should be able to find ground through the other bulbs if they are standard bulbs.
