Windshield Washer Switch Odd Behavior

Windshield Washer Switch Odd Behavior
I have a problem that I wanted to share.
I have an '04 Expy and, recently, when I try to use my windshield washer, my rear window washer activates. My windshield wipers cycle, but no washer fluid sprays on the windshield. Instead, it sprays on the rear window. The rear washer switch setting does work properly.
I replaced the multi-switch, hoping that the problem was in it. However, the problem remains.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot the issue?

You have to replace the whole washer pump itself. Located at the washer reservoir. The washer pump has a two way valve built into it that goes bad about every 5 years or so. You can pick up a Motorcraft replacement washer pump from Rock Auto for about $25 or so.

Windshield Washer Switch Odd Behavior - Fixed!!!
Hamfisted,
Thanks for the recommendation. Replacing the pump solved the problem. Found a exact-fit replacement at a local auto parts store, for $18+tax.
I ended up pulling the battery and battery tray, which made access much easier. For anyone doing this repair, have silicone lube on-hand. It made inserting the new pump in the reservoir, and reconnecting the feeder hoses much easier.
Now, on to those hood struts that allowed the hood to almost close on me...
Again, thanks for the assist!

Yeah, I just did my hood lift supports last month in my '03. The passenger side was the only one that still had any gas in it. The driver's side cylinder was dead. Got 'em from Rock Auto in a few days. The AMS brand is made in USA. Part # AMS 4478 .
