Follow up

...follow up question...what wire would I tap into that would let me add a relay to turn off my driving lights when I'm in high beam?

My 2000 Limited didn't come with OEM driving lights, so I added the little Rigid 2x2s in the factory spot. They are KILLER (I can see reflectors at night in the next state), but I'd like to at least TRY to be legal here in CA and have a way to automatically cut the power to them when I'm in high beam.

I don't have those, but I have some LED's for headlights. Those seem to have a lot of Lumens at almost double what I have at 3200L. Mine are bright, but I have only been flashed maybe 2 times. I have one that keeps going bad on the passenger side, and it appears the initial company I bought from is not responsive to their 2 year warranty. I think I may have some voltage problems on that side so I will try to do some trouble shooting this weekend.

I have had these for about 6 months. I was pleasantly surprised and happy with them so far. They're bright and have great coverage but haven't been flashed yet. High beam function is about worthless, but low beam makes it pretty much a moot point because of how it lights.

The 9145 fogs are probably brighter than I'd like but no issues yet. They thrown a big pattern that almost acts like a super high beam without being aimed into oncoming traffic face like highs can.

They definitely fill the world up with light out in front, and with a nice color. Not blue, ricer lighting, I think 6000k. Priced well, especially if they keep lasting! They're a little big but not bad to get in and tie back the harness. They have cooling fans so after you stop, you can hears the little fans going for 5 seconds or so.

You might want to do a search on this topic. A while back, I became enamored with the idea of LED headlights. They tend to be blinding to oncoming drivers, whether they flash you are not. Unless you have the right projector lense, they reflect all over the place and your vision will be worse. Trying to use an original type reflector with a LED is a really bad idea. After a week of blinding, not seeing and then finding out their legality is questionable, I switched back to halogen. I use the Phillips Extreme bulbs which are cconsiderably brighter than Silverstar Ultra.

Total effective lumens (total light coming out the front of the headlights) appears to be higher than the halogen bulbs. But neither the low beam nor the high beam bulbs are at the same focal point of the lens assembly as the halogens. This results in lots of scatter especially to the side in the low beam setting, and horrible scatter all over the place in the high beam settings. So much so that the effective illumination is actually worse in high than in low.

While it looks like the potential is there the design quality/QC seems to be still at the ebay product level. Nonexistent.

To get them to turn off with high beams, the power for the fog lights should go from the switch to the 87a terminal, then from the 30 terminal to the fog lights. for 85 and 86 (doesn't matter which one) one goes to ground, the other gets spliced with the high beam wire. 87a is normally closed, and when you turn on the high beams, it energizes the coil which opens the circuit, turning off your fog lights

I would just go with Sylvania XFE bulbs, most LEDs are really white and do not project as far as yellower halogens.

Thanks...but I know the wiring at the relay.

What I need to know what wire to feed INTO the relay as a signal wire...I don't want to tap into the wire that actually feeds the headlight (bad idea)...I need to know what wire to tap into preferably coming off the switch on the turn signal stalk.

I bought a pair of these for my P71.....havent had a chance to install them yet. I was thinking of trying them in the EX just to see what the deal is. I have the PIAA bulbs in it now but need to investigate some spotting in the beams.....may be the reflectors.
