Hey, there... a nebie to the forum and just for this reason... I bought a 2006 F250 Lariat FX4 with the 6.0 diesel. I bought it from a used car dealership. the truck come's with four auxiliary switches located to the right of the trailer brake control. I specifically asked if those switches did anything and he said no... they are for you to add your own components and already have switches.
Well... today I was flipping the switches when I came to #4. I was in park and the RPM jumped up to about 1200 and stayed there at a constant idle. I'm assuming a SEIC or PTO?
Does anyone know if that is a standard piece of equipment or if possibly the previous owner installed it? Also... if aux switch 4 does something standard, does 1-3? I'd love someone to tell me one of those switches turns on an exhaust or engine brake!
They are designed for auxiliary components that you want to add... just as he explained. The previous owner made #4 the high idle switch so that it held the truck at 1200RPM, a popular mod so the truck warms up quickly. Only works in park, I added it to a switch.
One-three may have nothing added yet.... if your really lucky, it could make it rain money.
Welcome to the site, hope your enjoying the quick heat that switch provides.... now lets get down to it.
What else did he tell you about the truck?
Just as Randy explained, nothing hooked up from the factory. The only engine brake you have is not really an engine brake but your tow/haul feature uses shifting points to help slow you down on downhills or grades.
And if you look under the hood, driverside, you will find some pass through wires to use for what ever you want to add. (They come into the cab near fuse box.)
Quick list of other things to do on a new 6.0:
Change the oil filter and both fuel filters. Motorcraft only.
Change the oil.
Get a monitoring solution (torque pro, scangauge II) and check the oil temp to coolant temp difference to check oil cooler health.
Get an OEM air filter back in if it's had a "cold air intake" installed.
Check CAC tube boots for cracks (they'll leak oil and boost under pressure if cracked, just look for the oil residue).
Get your batteries and alternator tested.
These will prevent bigger problems in the future.
And post pics! Lots of em! (especially under the hood so we can see if you have any bad mods installed from the previous owner).
Thanks! And I'll post some pics. 1 mod it came with seems to be a filter tied into the coolant system . Dealer said it was for better coolant flow and additional oil cooling. ???

Another thing he said was that his service department believes the EGR was new and seemed to have been replaced rather recently .
Stop by your local Ford dealer and see if they will give you an Oasis Report on this truck, if you haven't already. It will show all warranty work done on the truck.

And as Sean says, they are only pass thru wires. They aren't hooked up to any of the switches on the inside and have to be wired in, according to needs.
Very clean truck...
New looking batteries, clean degas tank, good brand of coolant filter, OEM oil filter cap. clean intake tube to the turbo, fan shroud looks new, air deflectors new... only thing I see is the plastic tube to intake elbow to keep an eye on.
Costco Interstate batteries have been talked about a bunch here, very good quality until a recent change in marketing. He did the high idle mod, coolant filter...
The previous owner was a diesel enthusiast no doubt!
