It can often be a frustrating job to align the UVCH gasket and the valve cover to the head well enough to get the bolts started (particularly that nasty one at the firewall).
Simple solution is to replace the front and rear bolts with studs and seat the gasket. Place the valve cover over the 2 studs (front and rear) and the rest of the bolts will be easy to align and start.
I snug all the remaining bolts, remove the studs and replace the bolts - but it may be just as well, or better to simply place the appropriate nut on the studs and tighten.
