I recall someone else tried numerous aftermarket EGRs and got the same error as you. They ended up ordering a Ford version. Problem resolved.
I think RLA was trying to be think of me when he wrote this.
I went through 3 different EGR valves. Finally ponied the money up for a new Fomoco valve, and the problem went away. I have since preached about the difference in rebuilt from parts stores and OEM from the supplier(Fomoco). I also preached about this topic concerning EGR valves hoping that it didn't fall on deaf ears.
Hence I know they aren't cheap, but how many are you gonna try and how much frustration can you bear? You need a baseline, a constant to start with. And if it isn't OEM, then you have variables that could be throwing you completely off while diagnosing a problem. I preach about this time and time again. If you have aftermarket mixed with OEM, then you have problems, everyone assumes it's the OEM since you just spent $$$ on aftermarket.
Case in point....had a problem hot starting...thought it was ICM, PIP... nope...JUNK MSD coil. Put on a known 24 year old coil. And BAM, fired right up. Returned the MSD, got another...2 months later, same frigging thing!!! Thank gawd I had the spare coil in the glove box...made it home and tossed that JUNK MSD Blaster Coil in the trash.
I gave up and spent $160 on a new one. Problem solved!
Thank you. I am not opposed to getting one from Ford but the original and three others have been doing the same thing. I know it can happen but the odds are slim although it is not impossible as you know. I'll go back to square one with Ford if I have to, but I want to keep trying since the odds are in my favor now and my wallet proves it.

You have good vacuum at the EVR, correct? Try disconnecting that hose, and plugging it right into the EGR valve to see if it opens.

I could never clear the 332 so I was taking it to my mechanic friend tomorrow. I decided today I would remove the last EGR which was number four counting the original one. I put the original one (21 YO FORD PART) back on and BINGO it worked perfect. My codes are gone and the idle is about 900. Still rougher than I like at idle so I will concentrate on that now and I have a few ideas.
Keep preaching. OEM is all I intend to do on major parts now. Thanks to all that offered ideas, suggestions and help. Sandy
