Steering Wheels

Does anyone know a good source for OEM type Steering wheels (Besides a Dealer). I need to replace mine on my 1975 F-250 it is cracked and nasty, missing horn button etc. I want to stick with the original but don't want to invest the kind of money that my local ford dealer wants for the OEM. (no luck at our junk yards around here either).
Also, while driving my truck over rough terain, I get rattling noise that comes from the steering wheel (column) like it is loose. However it is not loose. Anyone experienced this before?

Thanks

Just keep checking eBay. They turn up once in awhile.

Check the classifieds here for columns and wheels also. Sounds like you could use a complete column with wheel.

www.dennis-carpenter.com has em. They are made from original ford machines....I also found one in the junk yard in really good shape.

The way the pre 77 wheels are made they just crack. Plastic over a steel frame, when the wheel gets hot the steel expands and pop, there goes the plastic. The Eastwood company has a repair kit for these types of stearing wheels. Check their web site.

Another option would be a wheel from a 80-86 xlt. They are smaller diameter and have a padded grip (instead of hard plastic) and still appear stock. Just a thought.

Marty,
Do you know if these are a "bolt-on" to the earlier steering columns? Since updating the power steering I would love to get a smaller wheel, but want to maintain the Ford integrity.
Thanks, Steve

When I tried to put a 78 wheel on my 77, it bolted up fine and looked good but the turn signal cancelling cam doesn't work the same way. I tried to rig it to make it work but ended up breaking my cam.

I was trying a 78 Bronco wheel (automatic) on my 77 F150 (4 speed). Also the trim in the back of the wheel (where it meets the column) is slightly different in diameter between the years. It wasn't noticeable though.

I'm going to just get a Grant steering wheel to fix all my problems. I did some research on their website and found an install kit for their wheels that looks like it should work fine with my turn signal cam.
