i realize this will generate a lot of different opinions but I need input before making a big purchase and end up with buyers remorse.
My f250 front end had chewed up my beautiful BFG at/ko tires. I'm in the process of getting the front end components rebuilt and aligned so I can put new tires on and not have them chewed up in 15,000 miles.
That being said I think I want to stay away from "expensive" tires. I like the BFG's but for one my fuel mileage went down big-time when I swapped to them and secondly if the front end components wear in the next 20,000 miles and don't hold alignment I won't mind replacing a cheaper tire as much. Yes, swapping to a D60 will solve my problems but this isn't an option at the moment. Maybe in a few years I can.
For what it's worth, the previous owner had an all-season tire on the truck and the truck was set up to tow with a 5th wheel. I don't drive the truck that much anymore and even then I don't drive the truck off road - I do occasionally use it in the winter and here in the north east having 4x4 is helpful. I think I'd be fine with all-seasons but hate to loose the off-road capability if necessary.
Any input or thoughts are very much appreciated. I hate making quick decisions based strictly on a dollar amount.
I run BFG KO2s on my 4x4 dually, on everything else i've run wrangler Duratracs. If you want cheap tires with good tread and a good tread life the Hankook Dynapros are excellent.
Wrangler Duratracs are on my F350 but it isn't going to see any snow
I had no issue with traction when camping or in the mud at work ( limited parking during construction but I was brave to park in the muddy area over my rims)
look at eBay there some really cheap tires that work good. The boss man bought some Lion claw tires and those things have held up really good and says they have better traction than the BF MT's they replaced and 3 times cheaper.
I'm not much help with finding the cheapest tires... I use Toyo AT2s. They are awesome tires. I've got 31,000 miles on mine right now and I've never rotated them. I'm willing to bet I'll get 50-60k out of them without any problem.
I'm *forum search challenged* I need help with how big I can go without leveling or lifting my 97 f350 it's 4x4. anyone know or if you can provide a link to some info I would appreciate it. Stock size on the sticker is LT235/85r 16e. Now I have 265/75s. Can I fit 285/75s? They're 32.8 high and 11.2 wide according to tire size.com
