Those 285s will be fine. Your 265/75s are about the same overall as the stock 235/85s, at aprx. 31" tall. 285/75 is only one size higher, and the F350 suspension should have the clearance.
Iverger- how do you locate blem dealers? Are they clearing houses for multiple brands or brand specific?
Well apparently it's a little tougher that I thought. The last few I found were by word of mouth and on Craigslist. The last set I bought were from Tennessee Georgia Tire Center in Chattanooga. They have a lot of different brands, good prices and pretty fast service. I can't remember the name of the place I used to use in Atlanta that was too many of years ago.
I'll be honest I had set of axt 15,000 miles and they where done a buddy had ten plus on his half ton and they didn't hold up either plus my other good friend had them on his 6.0 and they didn't last at all but I've got a set of firestone m/yes on my truck now haven't had them long but they seem to be doing great time will tell though
I have the Cooper discoverer at3's. Pretty happy with them.
X2- smooth ride, low noise. I have a 2wd and they perform great in the grass. Tread wear seems good so far, but I also have a new ball joints, tie rods, etc on the front end.
I Highly recommend the Gladiator QR900-AT. They are cheap, Load Range E and are not very noise. They have an overall good grip. Have them on my Farm truck for a while now and also did interstate travel with them and heavy pulling.
no wear after 10.000 mls
I always recommend at least looking at tire rack...type in your tire size...and do a comparison among a few...it shows how many miles have been logged by customers...and those customers ratings...
When you have a tire (size 285/75/16) that has logged 35,000,000 miles and has a good customer rating 8.61/10 or 4.5 stars out of 5 across 1801 reviews it must be a pretty decent tire... Firestone destination a/t's that is...
I do a lot of highway driving so I prefer a tire that has a highway rib down the middle.

on the 235/85/16 side of the bench the dueler at revo 2's and the yokohama geolandar a/t-s both have some decent reviews..
now if I would have only know that the obs body style came with 235's not 215 per the model specs on tire racks web site I would be golden...looks like it is pizza cutters for me for a long while...

235s were standard on both single wheel 4X4 and dual rear 4X4s (cab & chassis) F350s, and F250s, while 2wheel drive dual rear F350s got the 215s. Not that it does you much good now, as it sound like you have good 215s now.

The 235's were an option up until 1996 on the drw 4x2's according to tirerack... 97 it only listed the 215's
