Had an eventful weekend filled with 457 miles worth of car shuffling. At one point we ended up going 95 while towing the Foxbody to get the f*** out of the way when a runaway semi came barreling down a series of small 8% grades, so that was horrifying. Otherwise the rest of the weekend was spent at a steady 70-75mph. I also may have dusted a buzz-box Civic while towing the Foxbody getting on an on-ramp...
Since everybody loves them there pictures...
This little guy went to Temple, Texas. Running, driving, lightly modified 302 along with a built and forged 347 aluminum head long block.
This thing came from Waco back to Houston... Just some Track Pack wheels and a cat-back. My friend owns this and the Foxbody is his as well. Figured it was easier to tow his car back and him ride with me than it was trying to stay together over a couple hundred miles and traffic. He just came down to help me move the Chevelle, but we've known each other since both active duty in he same squadron over 10 years ago.
Aaaand to round the weekend out, just now stuffed my Chevelle into the garage. Had it chilling at my parent's place and just got it moved to my house. The third blown SBC has it on the back-burner until we have saved up enough to buy a house instead of renting. Once finances stabilize, I'll be building it in a 'Matt-proof' fashion. Basically the very last thing to happen with be finishing the nitrous 513cid big block. Before that I will re-wire, re-plumb new brake and fuel, update steering and suspension, and either build the current 12-bolt or swap a 9" in. Most likely the latter.
Extremely happy with how it towed considering the only thing done suspension-wise is the 5100's, V's with 2" drop hangers, and the B-mod's. Braking handled via Prodigy P2. Was quite surprised that with the go-fast goodies, I still managed it all on one tank regardless of the daily tune. With 35's and stock gears no less....
Now to finally install the 6.0 cooler Razzi tossed me last year. I thought I had lost it and found it in the truck of the Chevelle
Back in the day I did a model of a '70 Chevelle I like(d) the dual headlights surrounded by body color, but I always like(d) the round tail lights ('71 Chevelle) over the rectangular. The '71 tail lights always reminded me of the '68 Impala fastback (tail lights in the rear bumper).
Still looking for a '70 El Camino ... saw a potential '67 Chevelle a few days back, but I have too many other projects in various stages of completion.
Does your house face North?
I know I'm burning the candle at both ends, just give me some more wax.
Still rocking that old school base sticker I see. Nice. No time for excursion work this weekend other than driving it to work. From Friday night to tomorrow morning work 37 hours. Maybe next weekend.

Yessir. It'll probably stay on there for a while, at least until I can get similar military plates like the Excursion has.
My buddy had a chevelle like that when we were in HS. Had some good times in that car. Wimpy 307. It had a gremlin, at odd times it would be totally dead. Get out and bounce up and down on the fender and it came back to life. Whoever got shotgun had to get out and do it.
