Looking at 2003 F-250 today, questions

I have owned Fords and GMC pu's. Never had a diesel and need to replace my current GMC (gas 402cu in) to pull my 7,000 boat and trailer. Is a diesel worth that much more assuming I only use my trucks about 5K per year?

Here is the current deal:
2003 F-250 4x4 crew cab XLT, automatic, air cond, premium am/fm cd w/clock, electronic shift on fly, 6 way pwr seat, trailer hitch, pwr heated mirrors, adj brake pedals, polished cab steps, all season tires, dual air bags, xlt interior/ext. $29961 + tax, etc.

Thanks, going to the dealer this AM... Anything else I should look for or ask about? One of my concerns is the dealer is 1 hour away and I have two other Ford dealers w/i 15 miles...

I would certainly go for the Diesel..even if you only use it 5K a year. With the price of gas going up every day..and I'm sure Diesel will follow...the better milage and lower fuel cost, I'm sure you won't regret the purchase. You didn't state whether it had a 7.3L or the new 6.0. I sure don't see anything wrong with the 7.3. I just bought my first Diesel about 3 weeks ago and sure wished my other truck wasn't a gasser. Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

If you haven't read all the threads about ALL the problems people have been having with their '03, 6.0 diesels then you should spend alittle time perusing them. The New 6.0 engines with all the engineering mods and fixes will go into production on sept-29th. Which means that they won't be introduced into the '04 trucks until ALL of the 03 engines are used up. You have lots of choices Before the dealer gets your money and very FEW after you've purchased the truck. Better to wait until after the first of the year when the 04 engines are available IN the o4 trucks.......sk...
