Bottle jack
This afternoon after replacing the upper shock mount, my Ford bottle jack won't retract completely. Most of the inner portion is left sticking up. Anybody know how I can persuade the bottle jack that retract?

Have you tried going out/up more to perhaps free it up so it will go down? Sometimes a little weight on it helps too, so a helper can put a foot on it and slightly step/stand on it. I can't recall if the Ford jack rotates/spins either, but that's another thing to try.

The bottle jack from the factory is pretty frustrating. I've used it and within an inch of lifting to where I needed it,it maxxed out.Do over again use a piece of wood....a lot of wasted effort. I keep it on the fender for looks only.lol.carry a better one under the back seat.

I always carry a 4 Ton bottle jack behind my seat, I hate spinning that stupid **** on the factory jack. But I leave the factory jack in the truck as a last resort.
Now that I think about it, I don't know why have 2 jacks in my truck when 80% of the time I don't even carry the spare
