Well the other day my 96 f250 while hooked to a gooseneck made a stutter slash popping noise and I heard the drive shaft hit the ground I costed into the first place I could busted the rearend pinion yoke got a new yoke and a new ujoint now it seems to make the same popping noise when u get on it hard need to get it fixed do u guys have any ideas I'm open to any of them thanks in advance for any advice or help
Did you check both ujoints on the rear shaft? Did you pop the diff cover to make sure you're not missing a tooth on the ring gear or something along those lines?
Slap a gopro under there and check for axel wrap. The pinion may be rising enough when you, "get on it hard" that it is binding. Could be a broken leaf spring or ?
Also jacked it up and spun it by hand no noises or anything also jacked it up and ran truck slow in first gear everything seems fine but I'm not sure I may very well pull the cover tomorrow and double check
Well I jacked it up and put it in gear drive shaft has very minimal runout I'm seriously doubtful on it being bent now I found my center ujoint to be starting to fail I'm thinking I'm gonna go ahead and replace all rear ujoints with spicer and my carrier and see if I can get my pinion angle set correct hopefully I've been watching videos on it here lately so I'm thinking I'm gonna need shims to fix it but if it continues after u joint replacement I'm gonna re pull cover and check rearend I just hope it's not the problem it's not really in the budget right now
if you know you have wheel hop then my money is on diff problem from all that wheel hop.
I know it's had a wheel hop issue but since the axle swap it's become much worse I try to watch getting on it so I don't ruin it till I get traction bars built which it very much needs
Well I had it on flat ground and was looking at it and I definitely have to much upward pinion angle it's actually higher than needed I'll try to get a pic to show
