Accelerator pump nozzle

Holley 1850 (4160): Somewhat familiar on the sizing of the fuel metering jets, not clear with accelerator pump nozzle. The 65 has a 64 390 engine with 68 metering jets, currently 25 nozzle, seems to be sluggish during initial acceleration, considering going with slightly larger nozzle, assume an increase in the nozzle size would mean an increase in fuel mixture?

Comments appreciated! l

Does it bog down when taking off? Almost die then take off? that could be an accelerator pump problem but I doubt changing the squirter is going to do much for you. changing a pump cam could help though, going to a more aggressive profile or changing the position of the one already there helps sometimes too. There are several ways to tune the pump circuit if it is indeed the problem..

Just renewed the carb less than a week ago; however, the particular brand kit did not include items I needed. It currently bogs during initial take off which it did not do before. Just purchased another brand of 'kit', will install in the next day or so. If no improvement I will experiment with the cam and probably best to leave the nozzle size alone.

I thank you for the input!!
