custom audio installation help

hey everyone i am about to buy some 6x9's and 6 1/2's for my 78 single cab, i am going to have to drill some holes and do a lot of improvising, and i am thinking about the 6x9's in the doors, 6.5s maybe on the top of the dash?... dos anyone have any suggestions and or exzperiences on where to cut and where not to and what would be in the way in the bottom of my door or dash ?

A good set of component speakers in the doors, and an amp to drive them, is all you need to produce unbelievable sound. Give a budget, and we could advise you on how to get the best bang for the buck.

In a single cab truck, you really don't need rear speakers for any reason other than to get even louder (it will not help "sound quality" in most cases).

I agree with deftonz in spades. You're in danger of violating the KISS philosophy. Why on earth would you want to put speakers on your dash? Stick to one pair of speakers. Do you already have 6x9 holes in the doors? Scosche makes some excellent speaker adapters that will allow you to put two-way components in those holes. You can angle the tweeters for whatever staging you wish. If you choose your head unit wisely, you might even get away without an amp, which would save some bux and greatly simplify the install.
