Good lord you took apart a lot of stuff. When I pull them from the top I pull the intake, alternator, fan, unbolt the PS pump and leave the lines attached, cowl, and hook the chain to the block at the top bellhousing bolt hole and alternator bolt hole. I've never tried leaving the intake on I'm not sure if you can raise it high enough to clear the crossmember before you hit the top of the firewall. BUT, you can pull the head in the truck and since you disconnected the master cylinder I would pull the brake booster to give you a lot more room.

Yah I didn't have to take off the bumper and all but it didn't take too long and I can stand a lot closer. I was thinking I could take the front support off...

Anyways, finally got the intake manifold off...wow what a PITA so many hang ups on the back of it. I'm tempted to try to just pull the passenger side head without pulling the engine. Looks like the CPU will have to move out of the way. Since I only need the second from front cylinder accessible.

Btw...I miss my old 77 f150 straight six....so much dang room...want to pull the heads? Then all you had to do is pull them...didn't have 57 wiring harness connectors to label either

Looks like you are getting the upper hand on that project!

I think I'll be checking my injectors for leaks and malfunctions tonight if I get the time.

#7 is on the driver's side. Have fun putting the intake back on, that's the main reason I pull the cab.

I'm a little confused, the second from front on right side is #2 but in your first post you said it was #7. That would suck to pull the wrong head.

yah I don't know where I got #7 from, at that point I hadn't seen the truck yet. I think that's just what the service writer said over the phone

Yah not looking forward to that. Wish I had the setup to do that. I can't even get my truck in the garage though because it faces the alley way and I don't have enough room to turn that long girl in. So I'm stuck with our gravel driveway....my hoist doesn't roll too great on there.

So at this point I'm pretty sure I can pull the head without pulling the engine. I pulled the left valve cover off and I should have clearance to get the head off once I pull the timing chain cover (I think it has to come off, need to look after this). we'll see but I'd rather not fuss with pulling the engine with the hoist rolling on gravel.

Got the head off. It definitely takes 2 people because the last bolt on the back left interferes with the firewall so someone has to hold it out of the block so it can slide out and over.

Damage to the cylinderThe cylinder is only damaged on the very bottom. It's only a 1/4 inch or less. I'm thinking I should be good since none of the rings go down that far.

Maybe I might just burn through a little more oil?

A little bit of the block was also chiseled out too

You can see if you zoom in

I have a 2005 and I know nothing about injector issues. If anyone knows of a TSB or more information, please point me.
Thanks

Theres a specific customer satisfaction program number, I have the PDF at work I can send you the link. I'd recommend that you change out all of your injectors asap, not worth the hassle I just went through.

Just Google "Ford 5.4 fuel injector issues problems" and you'll find what you're looking for.
