The **** has to be installed on the handle using a vise. By turning the vise handle slowly, the **** can be pressed onto the handle.
We gave this info to customers at the parts counter, warned them not to use a hammer, but...
Some used a hammer anyway, which broke the plastic inner core of the ****, so they had to come back and buy another ****.

FWIW these ***** are junk. I've gone through 2 of them and am on my 3rd. I used the vice to press them in but it weakens the plastic so much that it eventually just falls apart. This truck gets less than 500 miles put on it in a year so they're not even being used much.
This time I took a drill but just smaller than the press in pin and reamed out the **** hole. I also put in a small bit of JB Weld. We'll see how it holds up.
