The MX4 cover for my 2016 F-150 arrived today and I am completely shocked what a POS it is. It apparently shipped direct from the factory but the packaging did not seem to match what I was expecting from watching unboxing videos on youtube.
Maybe that would explain why it was scratched to hell and covered with touch-up paint. Some sort of white adhesive is also showing between the panels and hinges. If that wasn't enough someone did a half as job of installing shims on that bed rails that were NOT needed and had to be removed.
I would have been very disappointed regardless of how the cover ending up fitting but to top it off the darn thing is about a half inch too short of making a seal between the front of the bed and the tailgate.
I took a bunch of pictures that are uploaded to google drive for your viewing pleasure.
I had a terrible experience dealing with BAK. I hope you get better results than I did. From my experience I would tell anyone not to deal with BAK for anything.

Another cover was shipped out Friday and should be here Tuesday. BAK has confirmed that the shims are not needed on many 2015+ beds. You would think it would be an all or none situation but I guess not?
So far BAK is making a good effort at fixing the issue.
Yes, they did send a new cover. That one wasn't perfect either and I had to ask several times for replacement panel bumpers because the exsisting ones were peeling from the factory. The didn't send new rail which was disappointing because the first cover i received was a used item and the rails that came with it had spacers installed which needed to be removed. BAK confirmed that several customers have had to remove these factory installed spacers yet they continue to ship them installed.
I will never buy from BAK or the truck hero company again. If your in the market, I would seriously consider the Peragon cover. I'll probably replace my PoS covers in a couple years with one.
My experience with BAK was the same. When I finaly got a replacement it looked like a factory reject, and performed wores than the origianal junk.
I'm with you about replaceing it when I can afford something different. I let anyone who asks know the quality of service I got from BAK, and I feel better knowing that I cost them a few sales.

I was BSing with the guy who owns the place where I bought my Retrax from while his techs installed my cover. He told me the BAK covers are the biggest POS out there. He said he has them in stock because they are very popular and people want them, but he tries his best to be upfront about the issues they have. He also stated that he tries to steer them toward a different brand of cover too.
