hey i have a 77 f150 4x4 reg cab, that the drivers door rattles up and down in and out. is there some ajustment for this? i just put new door seals thinking maybe that would help (they leaked anyways) the whole door is shaking, not just something in the door rattling around. thanks
The electrical tape would work for a while but it is much softer than the original material. The replacement units are easy to find at the parts store. I would recommend that you buy the entire striker bolt assy unless you can get the washer off of yours easily. Some of those "captive" washers are on there forever.
Vise grip, channel lock or a torx wrench. Unscrew the bolt, the nut is captive in the jamb so it shouldn't fall into the jamb. The rest is a simple RandR.
i sliced a garden hose in have and some electrical tape around it. work for about a year then i took it off and replace both striker bolts cost me like 20 buck at autozone. the secret is to take off the bolt and put the new one on and add washers accordingly if u need adjustment. on mine i put the same washers back on and the same number work like a charm. hehe. im just glad it doesnt have to be replaced that often. so far only once in 25 years
and how many times did you have to wrap it? how thick is it?
Is adjustable by wraps, probably ten - fifteen wraps to start, and it doesn't break and rattle. Test shut the door and adjust. If it seems loose, add a couple more layers. If too tight, unwrap a few wraps
Is not a substitute for a maladjusted door strike.
