7.3 to 2015 Front End Conversion Thread - McNasty etc

Here is what I have in the meantime: side view, of passenger side.

Thanks. That's what mine looks like besides the bottom of the fender liners isn't mounted. That part of the fender liners and front is killing me. I'm going to try the 2025 liners and see if I like that better.

If you shift the liner forward towards the bumper the gap is more reasonable. Have you tried that?
#49
Did you every figure out your hood latch issue?

Ya I answered that above. I used the new latch. I think my old latch simply didnt have have the spring strength to push up the heavier 2015 hood.

Hi Guys,
Wish I had found this thread three weeks ago! I have been doing the conversion without the kit. It is a LOT of work fabbing up all the little brackets and figuring it our from scratch.
I wanted to chime in on the hood shocks as I just got mine figured out the other day. I made a little 90 degree bracket and screwed the ball stud from my old body onto it siedways and mounted it near the last hole on the fender closest to the cab. I used the 2011-16 hood struts as they came with the pile of body parts I bought. the other end just clips into the hood in the factory location. I think I either need o move it slightly forward or flip the bracket over because if my hood is not open all the way it will drop down and hit me in the head. Dont ask how i found that out.
I re-used the 2005 hood latch, but I had to space it forward 3/4" and drop it slightly. I also re-used the 05 hood bumpers, I had to move them to line up with the right spot on the hood and drilled and tapped the metal under neath for the M6 bolt. I will take a picture tonight.
I have probably 20 hours into it now, some of it is kinda hoopty with washers for spacers but it is solid and looks good with the hood closed lol!
I was trying to figure out the fender liner which is how I found this thread. I was contemplating using the newer fender liners as it would cover the fog lights better in the front, but I dont know how well it would fit my truck??

Thanks for posting!!! Finally someone other than me.
Man you're awesome. That's a lot of work to make those brackets from scratch. I know I wouldnt have had the energy for that much effort.
Question, did you take that ball stud for the hood strut off of the old hood latch?
Yes the fender liners are a sore spot for all of us. They original liners dont protect the fogs, but Im not sure it really matters. The gap is disconcerting nonetheless.
If there is one part about the McNiblet kit I like and I think is worth the money, its the outriggers for the bumper. They are very nice. Much stronger looking that the OEM brackets.
2005 is the 6.0 motor?

The ball stud was from the top of the old fender mounting area that my old hood shock connected to. It used to be mounted vertically. I flipped it on its side and used a metric nut to hold it to the bracket.
I bought this truck as a project and pretty much every part of it needs work. Took it out for a drive for the first time ever last night (I trailered it home 2 months ago) and it really really needs injectors so I have to pull those soon and send them off.
I got pretty lucky I think I am $2350 canadian dollars for a 2008 bed, and 2011 bumpers front end panels lights grill ect. That is roughly $1800 usd!
I would really like to try some 2011 fender liners if I can find some used. I have a superduty wrecking yard not far from here. Not sure if they will bolt up to anything existing on my truck but that has not exactly stopped me yet lol
