Hi all I'm not sure if this is the best group to post my question but here it is:
Anyone knows how to setup springs used inside a distributor?
My problem is that my springs where broken, I got a couple used ones, but I need adjust to right tension. Those springs are used in centrifugal advance system of my distributor.
Extra info: F150, 1986, 300CID engine, carbureted, duraspark II Ignition system, AOD tranny.
I think there is only one setting for the tension on those. The total advance should be achieved by 3200-3500 rpm. If it comes up much sooner than that, you can either crimp down the ends of the springs to increase the tension, or file the weights down a bit.
