1965 E brake

Hey guys, I have a question about the E brake for my 1965 f100 longbed. I purchased E brake cables that are for my specific year and bed length, but the cables won't reach the other piece? They're about 12 inches or so too short. Is there a piece that is suppose to go in between these that I'm missing?

i posted a picture below of another truck because I already removed my cables, but as you can see on his, the cables are too short aswell? It really looks like there's suppose to be another piece.

thanks!

Link may find helpful; thorough description of the components in the E-Brake assembly with diagram. I am unable to determine from pic if the equalizer bar and E-Brake lever are attached to the E-Brake cable; refer to ND diag., if so, then 12" is quite a distance to make up. Once rain lets up I can crawl under the 65 and measure.

heres a picture of my truck. I don't have the cables in, but when they were in they were the same length as the original picture I posted. So as you can tell, there a bit of distance from the cables to that attachment.

Alright, check this out. Just found this picture online, as you can see they have an attachment that fills in the gap that I currently have. Does anyone know what that would be called so I can buy one?

im not trying to distract from your issue or hijack ur thread but...what fuel tank did you use?, is that setup going to come out the side of the bed or or the bed floor?

Interesting that it only applies to F100 with the 129" WB.

I bet he would also be interested in the

C6TZ-2A790-A - Connector

Looks like plenty of those available NOS as well.

I looked up this connector along with the extensions, but...

OP has a 1965 F100, this connector is only listed for 1966 F100 129" wheelbase; 1967/72 F100 131" wheelbase & F350 158.8" wheelbase; 1969/74 E100/200 123.5" wheelbase.

Bill, I see that now that I look closer. I wonder how the cables connect to one another in 1965?

So there was both a 128.8" (129") and a 131" WB in 1967? It shows both under that part number. Seems odd, but I've never even glanced at a 1967 so know nothing about them.

You don't suppose that 66/67 is a typo and it should really read 65/66 - do you think that is possible? I've documented a TON of other Errata in the MPC so I wonder about this entry, too.

C6TZ part number prefix reflects 1966

O-S-I catalog doesn't show that C6TZ-2A790-A replaced a previous number.

But, if the OP wants 2 of these...just to be sure...you or I can list some of the sources.

Yes, if your O-S-I catalog doesn't show a previous number then it would seem to be as you say.
