Synchro 4 Speed 1951

So I was looking in the owners manual for my 1951 F2 and I found that a syncro Silent 4 speed was offered on the F4-F7
Does anybody have one and will it fit my F2

My '51 F2 had the synchro 4 speed and flathead V8 in it when I bought it... so yes, it will fit.

It will bolt in

First, you will need to find one
Then,
You will need to shorten driveshaft
You will need to raise the clutch equalizer ball
It will be slightly closer to the floor

That was not a factory option, so someone must have done some modifications to fit the T98 in there. It's quite a bit longer than any of the regular F-2 trannies.

Right... I don't know for sure what all has to be modified, but my truck didn't have a driveshaft in it when I bought it... the driveshafts (2 piece) were laying in the bed. It didn't run, so I never tried to install them to see if they would fit.

Why would he need to raise the clutch equalizer ball? The clutch release shaft is in the same position in the transmission half bell. I actually had to raise the rear of the T98 I installed in my F4 as the rear mounting foot is 3/8" shorter on my T98 than on the T9 I took out, measured from the shaft centerline to the bottom of the foot.
