no running lights or dash lights
Dash lights not coming on, no running lights either, and the sound it makes for when you leave the lights on only come on when you hit the brakes and ign is off what could this be? I tried googlig a wiring diagram to help and coulsnt find the right one. 2000 f250 xlt

Has it been raining? A leaky windshield seal can leak water onto the GEM which is mounted under the dash there, causing havoc. If this seems to be the case you could hang your GFs hairdryer off the steering wheel for a couple hours to dry out the area.

The dash lighting is on the same fuse as the running lights in most vehicles on purpose. If there is a short circuit in the running light wiring, fuse blows, the driver is alerted to the problem. Sometimes problem is back near the hitch area where wiring may be spliced for trailer lights by previous owner, or incorrect trailer light wiring.
