Hi i have a 2001 v10 supercab and right now i have a 4 inch lift on it. I want to take off the lift and put a 8 inch lift on instead.
so i can clear 38's. Just wondering is lenghting the front drive shaft the only thing i will have to do? what about break lines?
also since i have a supercab shortbed I dont have a carrier bracket for the rear driveshaft. Will i get bad vibrations? or will it have to lenghten too?
The front shaft will have to be lengthened. The kit should come with brake line relocation brackets. If not you will have to buy longer ones for the front. You should be fine if you have a 1 piece rear driveline. It's the carrier bearing that gives the vibes. If you don't have one so much the better.
new shocks
adjutable track bar
maybe bigger rear blocks or rear springs
hanger kits are not very cheap either... plus i havent found where to just buy the hanger and not the rest of the stuff. I look online to buy, i hate the dealer here in my town.
so i am limited
You should be able to buy just the hanger part out of a kit from most 4by shops.. it wont be listed on the internet.. woiuld be something on the phone. LIke with fabtech, superlift, and skyjacker their parts still have individual part numbers, and can be ordered individually not just in a kit. Howver i may be mistaken. Try calling around worth a shot at savin a buck
looking at the 4.5 edge hanger kit , 1k just for that is way out of the question. so it would be cheaper to just buy a 8inch lift. Like super lift of fabtech
my 4" is a procomp lift with front spring and add a leafs just to let you know PSD
for a 8" all spring you are gunna drop at least 1200$. If you go blocks it will be cheaper, but then it will be blocks. The one grand for the edge hanger is for the whole kit. As i said above, you can buy pieces individually for a lot cheaper. Have you looked at fabtech's hanger kit? It is WELL under 1K. Im just trying to help
all the other hanger kits are smaller and wouldnt give me enough room for the 38's . What did you pay for your superlift if you dont mind me asking? I got my 4" lift for 400 bucks from a friend
Just find a rear overload that's 3/4 inch thick and cut it off the size of your spring pads and put a longer center pin through it under the front leaves and you will have 8.25 inches.
Did you order yours locally or through the internet? my rims are 16x10 with 315's . I want to run 38" pjs but i will keep my 35's on for awhile cause i just bought them . I dont think the 8" looks to wierd with 35's but looks better with 38s. I planed on just doing rear blocks with the 8" because i rarely go off roading.
The rear blocks aren't much cheaper. Maybe 100 - 150 bucks. I'd just get the spring. You can order the lift for under 1100 from national tire and wheel. At least when I ordered mine.
