OCR Video

I found this a good video for someone considering getting the OCR option.

What's the story with this Frantz? Is it a fleet only option or something all the 17 6.7's have?

It's not fleet only, just not going to find it on anything that wasn't specifically ordered for it. I see folks ask about it now and then. If you drive on highways often you don't need it. Most diesels are purchased for highway use.

What's the option code? I've never seen it in the order guide or build and price. That would be a cool feature to have even if it's rarely needed!

When experimenting on the build site it is available on the XL and XLT. It is not listed as available on Lariat and above. Obviously from the video it was installed on that truck. The OCR is option # 98R.

That was not a normal platinum, likely a pre-production truck. It only had the 4.2" dash screen, not the 8" that comes standard on platinum's.

Looks like Forscan it is. I'm betting higher trim levels are capable. It's just not turned on from the factory.

The OCR would be best reserved for the OCD with ADD.

I actually had the license plate OCD for a while... I had to get rid of it though as the letters were out of alphabetical order and it made me crazy...

No, the Platinum was a normal Platinum. The guy in the driver's seat was acting...pretending to push buttons. When the camera panned close, he was out of the picture and the truck they were using to show the screens was absolutely an XLT truck. So, two completely different trucks used for filming. Same as before, you cannot get this feature on a Lariat or higher trim. Maybe one of the programmers can figure out how to enable. I really don't care about doing an OCR, but I want my exhaust filter screen back and I want a message telling me when regen has started and when it ends!
