Hello this newbie has an 83 f-100 w rebuilt .030 over I-6,Rv cam from napa, stock carb, intake and exhaust. Q:will header from pacesetter help both with fuel economy and Hp?
Hey people, This is a guy who's always had stock every thing and has heard stories of headers and such doing nothing or worsening the situation. Right now I've got a stock exhaust manifold that is warped and has caused a leak both in exhaust and intake. and beings i've got to fix it I need to know about this so maybe I can get a better truck outta the effort? Your expertise has to greatly be better than mine and I'd sure appreciate any input or leeds! Sincer Thanks! electriczipper
Depends on how much noise you want. I recently put in the Pacesetters, and they're much louder than stock. Also, it means you'll have to drop the front header (at a minimum) if you ever need to change your starter in the future.
If the rest of the engine is going to remain stock or fairly stock, see if you can find the EFI headers, they're certainly more free flowing than what's on there now, and you can get stock header pipes to make the exhaust system a bit simpler. Headers can be a high maintenance item.
With either you should get an improvement in power and sound.
Thank you for the info. Have decided to go with the efi, walker downpipe setup. what's on the truck when I got it was 2" od pipe from manifold to aprox 1' in front of cat 2 1/2 od in out, muffler 2 1/4 od in out, tailpipe 2" od. gotta replace those 2" od items for sure. Thanks again!
