I would like to install automatic door locks, but the solenoid I have cannot actuate the door latch. It is just to stiff. I lubricated the latches, but they are just to darn Ford tough!
Are the aftermarket door latches any easier to operate? I hate to spend 100 plus to find out they are to stiff as well.

I have put power locks on several trucks and haven't had any problems. The last 3 I did I used actuators off of Crown Vic's and have used after market but most of them just look cheaper made. You didn't say what your actuator was off of, but most factory actuators should work. I would not just lubricate the locks but also clean them and make sure they are not binding on something. If them are operating like they should manually the factory actuators should work.
If you are trying to release the door latch and not just unlock the doors you need the solenoid that was used on GM starters to engage the starter drive. They require a lot of amps compared to actuators for just to unlock the door. There are kits called "door popper" set ups and are available in street rod magazines.
