Replacing fuel injector

Hello,

I have noticed kinda misfire and a hesitation in acceleration, picked up a code of cylinder 3 misfire and sometimes random misfire code. So most probably it indicates either injector or COP, is it right? My question is it easy replacing injectors? If yes, is there any good write up for that!

knowing I have a 5.4L 2000 model. Thank you

Tamer

Least likely is the injector.
Most likely is the COP boot/spring.
Look at the boot for general condition, rust on the spring or moisture down in there.
Swap the boot/spring with #2 and see if problem moves.
Also, look at the coil casing for cracks.
How many miles on the plugs?

Hi thanks for replying, approximately not more than 25,000 miles!

Tamer, when the plugs were changed 25,000 miles ago were the COP boots and springs also changed? They should be changed along with the plugs as they do wear out and get very small cracks which will allow the high voltage to leak out causing a misfire.
If the boots were not changed along with the plugs, now would be a good time to change out all eight of them.

I've been using the NAPA Belden 702418 boot/springs ($6/ea) for awhile now on our 2002 6.8l and 2003 5.4l with no problems.
