2005 SD brake replacement advice
I have had brake problem after brake problem with my 2005 Super Duty. Ford has replaced rear calipers and rotors under warranty, I have had Ford do it on my dime, and I have had two outside shops replace calipers and rotors. Every time I am told that should fix the problem. It does for a few months and then they drag or lock up again. It has happened to both right and left rear brakes as well as drivers side front. My truck has just over 100k on it. I have read about different causes but I’m not sure which is right. Every shop tells me something different.
I have decided to replace the whole brake system instead of trying one thing and then another. I forgot to mention I had hoses changed one of the previous times I had it repaired. So I have purchased new SSBC front and rear calipers, new stop-tech cryo rotors front and rear, hawk brake pads front and rear, new braided stainless front and rear brake hoses, new stainless pre-bent brake lines front/rear/mid, new Ford master cylinder, new Ford hyrdobooster, and new Ford rear pad brackets (ssbc reuses factory brackets). I know this may be a bit extreme but my tow bills are $500+ every time I have a problem because most of the time when the truck is driven it is out of town and pulling a trailer.
My question is what advice any of you have regarding changing the brakes. Also is there anything I am overlooking and need to replace in addition to what I have listed? Does anything need replaced as far as ABS goes? Also what brake fluid would work best with the mentioned setup? I want to get it done right this time! Any feedback is appreciated.
