Headlights

My 99 F250 NBS truck has 259,000 miles and my headlights (original of course) on both sides are so dim they are practically useless. Is the problem the outside plastic or the bulb filament units mounted in the plastic? The plastic feels a little rough when you rub it, but it is not clouded over real bad like I have seen on some other cars. Are you supposed to be able to look inside the light from the outside and see the filament?

I had the same problem with mine. I replaced them with Eagle Eye lenses. I believe anyway. They were only about $70 and came with new bulbs as well. They are clear as can be.

Do they do a good job at night? Would you do the same purchase again?

Now this wont totally rejuvenate the lens but if you have "OFF' the bug spray, spray some on a rag wipe the lens it will clear them some but wont make it like new. wipe and repeat.

I recall seeing some type of cream looking stuff that AutoZone had that claimed you can put drops on a brush thing and attach it to a cordless drill and run them over the headlight plastic.

Those things worry me about eating away the plastic and having a hole. "OFF" sounds less dangerous.

I tried using the lens restore. Nothing more than a fine polishing compound. Looked great for about a week.

The new lights are brighter than the old ones. I would not say they are great though. I have an E99 so I dont have the running lights. REALLY wish I did. I would say they did more for the trucks looks than they did light output. I put the most expensive Sylvania bulbs in it I could buy.
