In your opinion, which is a better, a 390 stroked to a 430 with edelbrock performer RPM heads or a 460? And which would be cheaper? What are some things I should consider in making my decision? Thanks for the advice
I think the 460 will be chaper than a SCAT stroked 390 using new parts. But, you can storoke a 390 using Ford parts, like a 428 crank.
Use the search feature for recent discussions on FE strokers and FE vs 460 comparisons.
Note:that if your vehicle is already FE equppied (360/390/428), the changing to a 460 will require several other parts like motor mounts, a compatible transmission or bellhousing and possible driveline legnth changes as well.
The FE 390/428 and strokers are capable of plenty power, and we just like them here in the FE Forum :-)
Thanks for the advice, and im kinda partial to FE's too. And the 460 conversion kit is really expensive so i think i could have just as much power for cheaper out of the FE.
Thanks again,
Daniel

It si really pretty simple, more cubes will get more power. But, if you have to convert other pieces, the conversion may not be worth it. You can get an FE, with over 500 cubic inch displacement. It only takes $$$
BTW ,I'm waiting on my stroked 428, at 446 cubic inches from Flatlander Racing. As you can see, I like the FEs :-) It should make 475+ lb-ft of torque at 2000 RPM :-) Just what I need for an old, heavy 3/4 ton truck.
