Unhappy New Turbo......with questions

Well guys my luck continues to keep going south!

After months of messing with the brakes on this demon my wife takes the truck and horse trailer to Fancy Gap Va. for a week long horse ride up there with her friends.....

On the way up the truck blows up( I was not told of any of this until she got home a week later) she did call me and said the trip up there went well and no issues with the truck...........Oh well so much for the truth.

8 miles into Va. smoke and oil everywhere the truck was hauled to a repair shop close to there. I found out that the turbo housing had cracked and was causing all the problems with the running of my truck.

A rebuilt turbo was installed, 4 gallons of oil and new O-rings.

I went up there yesterday and paid the bill and got my fancy turbo wheel out of the old turbo and had an old one put back in for the core charge.

$2000.00 and on the way home I noticed that the oil pressure was going up.....It is normally in the R range on the gauge. before I got home it was one needle with past the L headed to HI.
What Gives?????
to increase pressure you must have a restriction........YES or NO ???

Should I be worried about this???

get a real oil gauge before you panic more

the dash sensor is not reliable enough, it works from a switch on top of HPOP

The oil pressure gauge is a dummy gauge. It is activated by 6psi of oil pressure and usually goes to a certain spot and stays there. Like said above, get a real gauge.

What do you call a real gauge.????

An old style mechanical with a oil line running to it or a digital electronic.

Oh and what pressure range should I get.

Thanks

Joey, I have a "real Gauge" in my truck. It reads 25-30 at idle and 50-70 cruising or accelerating.

Joey, I didn't install the gauge, the previous owner did. From what I can see though, it's connected electrically to a sensor installed in the port on the oil cooler. There are two wires coming off of the sensor leading to the gauge. The sensor looks like a Napa generic. They are pretty cheap.

I never liked the oil lines being in the vehicle, they always leak and make a huge mess when they do

The sensor wired types are much better since oil leaks on ground

Shoot.........To an old man like me "A real gauge" has an oil line going to it.

No doubt they can be a beach when it comes to a leak but with good compression fittings oil leaks should no be an issue.

I'll go with the copper line.

make sure you have a rubber grommet on fire wall where line goes through and add coil to line to fire wall on both side so vibration wont break it

That is an old mans trick to have coils in the line. Who told you that.

But thanks, I will use a good grommet and the coils. Plan on using 1/4 in semi hard copper and good compression fittings

Now where to put the dang thing.........

My old man told me about it 30 years ago when installing one for a friend

I know where you shouldn't put it

Coil, what? Like they do in the brake lines? Interesting! I use the copper oil line. I tapped into the front part of the block, its a little square plug that's in the pressure part of the engine. I was already using the one above the oil filter for my FS2500 oil bypass system. I can take a picture if you want Joey.
