Been a while since I posted but I got some more work done on the lights.
Purchased a prismatic clear acrylic fluorescent light panel, put a 200t blade on the table saw and cut strips of the panel. The panels diffuse the light nicely.
Used onyx (black) stain and the clear coated them. I glued 2" velcro hook to the mount side of the lights and stuck them to the ceiling of the topper then added three screws screws down the length of each and started the wiring. The switches are temporary as I still need to make the deck wings and front and rear control panels but the wiring will stay as is. To eventually hide the wiring there will be a wood cover over the upper part by the lights across the back ceiling groove and it will be stained like the lights. For now, the wiring is velcro'd to the ceiling in the back groove.
Last step was day and night testing, all went well!
White light works great for loading and unloading and also puts enough light out for accessing the drawers. The red lights work great to see in the dark without killing your night vision.

Not really, living on the outside edge of Phoenix, its pretty hot to work on the truck, 109 degrees coming home today. As soon as the weather breaks I will be back on it. Have a lot more planned tho. A fair bit more wood work and electrical including strobe lights underneath for roadside repairs or loading and more in the bed for camping. Hopefully mid sept will get us back in the low 90s
