Gentlemen,

Yesterday I was being a bad example to my 14 yr old son as I floored it coming onto a county road. Since we straight piped it, we really like to hear it rumble and when he said floor it I was quick to oblige. What I noticed is that the truck seems to stumble a little between shifts. It seems to loose power but than starts to regain it again. It does not do this during normal hwy driving. Is that called lag? Is that just the way our trucks work? Can I do something about it? Will a tuner help with this? My truck is a 06 KR. Other than the exhaust and egr delete, its completely stock.

Are you positive it hasn't been tuned or had a trans tuning in the past?

 

Not sure, I've only had it a few months.

 

Some tuning removes timing between shifts so the next gear isn't slammed when the clutch let's go.... like a gradual engaging instead of slam.

 

There is nothing plug in under the dash. Is there some where else where a chip or tuner be located? Sorry for the dumb question

 

It plugs into the OBD port, then you upload the files to your truck. You'll need a tuner that's not married to a truck and plug it in, if its locked, it will tell you.

 

Maybe ask previous owne if he has/kept the tuner if there was even one. Mine came with. Usually though depending on the tune/tuner it should shift much firmer and not delayed like you described
