Broken Shift Tube

Has anyone heard of any info or recalls on the column shift selector tube breaking in torsion ? I stopped for coffee and couldn't get the beast to shift again. Everyone said it was the cable, but when I took out the column, the tube was broken in the middle due to excessive torsion.
Any info would be helpful.

I’ve never heard of any thing like this happening, you should call your local ford dealer and see if they know of any recall info, or if they have seen this in other vehicles.
