f150 4x4 engine swap
i bought a used f150 4x4 a while ago. the engine is now blown. it has a 302 in it, and the transmission slips badly. i need to know what engine/transmission combinations i can use without giving up the 4x4 functionality. i prefer to have an automatic transmission. please help me figure out what i can use in it.

Are you looking for a high performance motor or a basic replacement motor? Is this a truck that you don't want to put much money into, that you're just trying to keep it running? You might find it easier to fix the transmission you have, or get one from a junk yard.

f150 4x4 engine swap
what i want to get in it is a 351 or bigger and a transmission with overdrive. the trany that is in it now is geared verry low, and i dont like that. i think if i replace it with an overdrive trany, it will do me better. i just want to get it runing so i can haul and pull things, but dont know what engines or transmissions to use. if some one could tell me what overdrive tranny i could use with a 351w or bigger engine it would be a great help. right now i have a 78 tbird with a big block and trany in it but dont think that engine and trany will work in the f150 unless i disable the 4x4, and i dont want to do that.
