So this is an intermittent issue, it started happening about two months ago and there is no rhyme or reason as to why it started. It'll usually last about an hour or so and then go away but for that hour it is incredibly infuriating! When it does get stuck like this I end up holding my hand on the lever and clicking it up and down so I don't look like I have a busted truck to the person behind me, but I know my timing is way off so it still looks like I have a busted truck. Any ideas what could be causing this? I really don't want to have to go tearing into the dash and trying to find a wire that might have been chafed but if that's what it takes then I guess that's what I'm doing.
Or the relay? Have you tried 4-way hazards (I think it's a different relay).
You might be able to swap the relays (if they are the same of course, otherwise, there is often another relay of the same type in there somewhere).
It's the flasher, or at least it would have been in the old days. Also, are all your bulbs good?
How do I get the ten bucks?
Let's wait and see what the actual issue is first.
I say its the MFS because i've ran into the same exact issue on Explorer's in the past. The contacts inside get worn out and cause all kinds of issues. That's why I'm pretty sure it's the issue, could be wrong though...
I had the same thing happen to me when i was using a trailer. Was a short in the trailer harness. U might have a short in the harness for the rear trailer connector
In modern cars it will do this if the light bulb is burned out. Since it is intermittent the most likely cause is the bulb is loose or there is corrosion on the contacts. Since you will be opening it up go ahead and get some new bulbs, clean the contacts and replace the existing.
The flasher tends to be an all or nothing device. It is rarely intermittent (well, other than when working correctly ha ha). But it is cheap enough that if the bulb and contact are fine then try replacing it.
If all of those check out then it is a slight break somewhere. Prepare a lot of time and start tracing wires.

Which bulbs? The 4 on the outside of the vehicle or the 2 in the instrument cluster? Or are all 6 suspect?
My turn signals act the same way on my Expedition. I believe all my bulbs work. Mine seems to act up while it's raining and just after it's rained. Expeditions are known to have poor windshield seals and water can collect in one of the computers behind the fusebox.
