dropped socket under turbo, any solution?

I have 2014 F350 6.7

was removing the turbo to swap out and a 4mm extended socket rolled under the turbo and disappeared

I bought a borescope, searched as far as I could, no sign

Can anyone offer any advice on how to solve this please?

it fell into circled area on picture

can it fall down and damage the engine? can it be sucked into turbo and destroy it? is there anything I can do

any advice gratefully received

Get a flexible magnet and fish it out.

I tried a magnet glued to a wire coat hanger (can be seen in pic) it went a few inches towards the rear then stopped.

nothing showed with borescope. I can locate a decent flexible magnet if you think it may help

thanks

I'd wait for a diesel guy to chime in as I'm not familiar with the void under there. A flexible magnet should give you some better control over the coat hanger though.

Looks like you have my luck there. When I drop something it almost always rolls to the hardest spot to get it out of.

Ate you 100% certain that is where it went? I've dropped sockets, nuts, bolts, you name it before thinking they went one place but they actually went somewhere else. I would end up looking for ever in the wrong spot before I would notice it somewhere else.

not 100%, but pretty sure I saw it fall there and there is nowhere else around that I can see it, I've looked everywhere

I'm sorry I don'r know the answer but if necessary you can get an inspection camera from Harbor Freight for $80.00. I know no one wants to spend $80.00 on something you most likely will never use again but it might be worth the $80.00 just for the piece of mind. Here's the link: Digital Inspection Camera

Use shop vac with a small hose. I reduce the hose size down to a small 5/8 or 1/2 inch hose. Don't turn the vac on till the hose is in the area you need it to be.

Bad news bubba, It's somewhere in your oil system. You might get lucky and find it in your pan, but here are some screenshots of the breakdown of the engine. I would at the very least pull the engine pan and see if it doesn't fall in there, maybe it's stuck somewhere you can get to from the bottom side.
