Hey guys...can anyone with the ambient lighting in their SD post a picture, or explain where exactly the lighting comes from? What color selections are there, and where do you change it? I have searched all over the internet trying to find an explanation or a video, but can't. I have a Platinum Ultimate coming, and I know it has it, but I don't know anything about it! Thanks for the help!
There's LED's in each of the doors, the cup holders, and two more under the driver and passenger seat (face toward the rear seats). You adjust it in your settings on the touchscreen.
You know I really hope they FIXED IT with the newer trucks because on my 2013 F150 the lights would ALWAYS default back to light blue and it would do it OFTEN!! It gets so damn annoying that it never keeps the color you chose and also will not stay OFF if you turn it off. Do the new trucks have this issue?...or did they fix that with SYNC 3?
The ambient lighting is very nice. Here's the coolest part: when the truck isn't running or when running on remote start but not yet turned on, all the interior lighting will be "ice blue" regardless of setting. Upon starting the car or closing the doors, the lighting reverts to whatever color you set. If the vehicle is running and you open a door, the ambient lighting turns red...just in that door...to act as a warning to those around you that a door is open.
It definitely stays put with the color you select aside from those instances.
The LEDs are in both the upper and lower door pockets, plus the locations others have mentioned.

Big fan of the ambient lighting. It's a toy, but in my opinion it adds to the esthetic, helps round out the premium offering.
Also, just watched a 2017 GMC Denali 2500 video on the Utube...big meh. Those interiors need some help.

But, they also have a big 8" LCD display between the speedometer and tachometer like our new Fords, with reconfigurable gauges too. I knew Dodge had a 7" screen with no electronic gauges, but I thought Ford was first to the party with the 8" screen.

Those screens are sweet...looking forward to that, and they need all the help they can get. GM led the interior game early on...camped out in the hammer lane for quite a while, then the oval passed them on the shoulder. Hopefully it stays that way.
The whole ford package in this range is tighter. Ford is investing in making these trucks feel truly integrated and overbuilt (yes, we are paying for it). Take a look at the tailgate handle on a top trim Denali...looks like a work truck from 10 years ago.
I do enjoy the Ford blue kool-aid...always sweet and cold.
