Thread revival, But this is the exact combo Im thinking of doing. The extra wide weatherguard and then have truxedo custom cover. How well is it sealed on the back side of the box? Any water in the bed? Does the weather stripping sticking out from the cover bother you?
Guess I'm not sure what side is the backside of the toolbox? If you meant the cab side, I sealed that with some weatherstripping I found on Amazon. The box did come with weatherstripping for the cab side originally, and that worked well, but this is the 3rd truck the box has been on.
If you meant the cover side, it seals pretty well, but not perfect. I definitely get water in the bed, but I couldn't tell you which side of the toolbox it was coming from, never climbed under there in the rain. My guess would be the corners on the cover side. I can't say the weatherstripping sticking out has ever bothered me. Can always be trimmed.

thanks, I can deal with some water, 95% of the time every back there can get wet. The 5% is when going on vacation and need to items back there.
Most of the time the water in mine sticks to the outer edges of the box, I don't often see water down the center of the box. Really, so long as it doesn't dip into the ridges on the floor it should stay dry. If I have something I want to keep dry, I just center it under the cover and never have an issue. I used the dimension sheet. I ordered through e-trailer, nice people to work with.

I surely appreciate the answers. I used a tool box and side mount box on my old f150 SC 5.5 bed and both are full of tools and supplies(and always disorganized).I was contemplating running a full tonneau cover and working out of totes on this new 250, but something tells me the weatherguard extra wide is the best option. And to.be able to add a tonneau to that would be icing on the cake. Just need to work on my tool box organizing skills.
invstr55,
Do you tow a 5th wheel with yours? If so, do you take the cover off? I guess you couldn't leave it partially open while towing towing a 5th wheel you would have to take it off.
Does anyone know if they make one that you can have the the tool box covered and still tow with a 5th wheel?
It’s not as nice as the ones shown, but my BakBox works with my fiver:
