Had mind sprayed today. Turned out nice. The owner told me they don't like taking the bolts out on any of the aluminum beds so they sprayed over the bed bolts.

Wow I'm glad I found this forum. I thought Ford did much more for the bed liner. I will not be ordering that now.
I have a Jeep 4dr with a drawer system in it. It's made out of a dense foam board, not wood, then sprayed with LineX. TUFF AS HECK! Love it.
Now I just have to find a LineX dealer......

I've had a few factory liners and a few Line X. I didn't noticed a difference and both have been flawless, but I don't work my truck as hard as some of you. I went with the factory liner on my 2017 because it is only $425 on Z Plan and Line X is a hassle dropping my truck off for a day.

am i missing something in regards to the bolts. don't the steel bolts just pass through the aluminum bed and then thread into the steel frame?
what is the issue?
If the proper tool is used, i don't see why they would be difficult to remove and reinstall

In case the factory put anti-corrosion compound on them, if you remove them it should be reapplied. Cant have steel in contact with the Aluminum it will cause corrosion.

The bed bolts are self threading which makes them self locking. The grains of the steel are bent in the direction of the turning force when they are installed and get fairly hot in the process. They have a tendency to seize the bolt making them very difficult to start back out. Once they start they turn no problem. When I have the Linex done I am having the installer anti seize the bolts just in case the bed ever needs to come off. I had to have a portion of the cab painted after a break in and the bolts were so seized the painter could not get them out. I later replaced the box and after breaking four of the torx bits finally cut the bolts off with a cutoff wheel. 8 bolts at $14.00 each was not an expense I enjoyed. The new bolts are external torx and should be easier to remove, especially on a new truck. I would have the torx socket for the installer, just in case he didn't find one. Torx Plus EP-24

Great explanation! Also, Linex dealer mentioned there was a flat plate somewhere in-between and the first '17 they did, the plate slid loose and they had a hard time finding it and getting it back in place.

I'll bet because they did not have the proper torx socket.

My Line-X guys didn't have an issue. He said they came out a lot easier than what he thought they would have.

Boy that Companion looks great in there. I'm wondering how Line X is dealing with the overly large gaps in the bed. Are the trying to fill the gaps or are they still there after installation?

My gaps are still there. They of course aren't as large. However they still drain water just fine!!
